The journey of life on a roller coaster with mental health struggles.

I am a lifelong survivor of struggles with mental health issues. I put on my mask each day to be able to function in the real world when I'm not home resting and recharging from the overstimulating environment out there. I have had many experiences in my journey that were horrifying, but also some that I can look back and reflect a lesson or even laugh at, now. While everyone has a very unique experience, I always found it to be a relief to hear that I am not alone in my struggles and others can relate. The most promising feeling is when I see someone who has pushed through their struggles and leading a successful life.

Borderline

I was given the dreaded Borderline Personality Disorder diagnosis that is completely misunderstood and stigmatized. It is one of many diagnoses, but also the one I typically keep to myself outside a treatment setting. Hearing others throw the diagnoses around like a derogatory term is proof of how misunderstood this horrifying disorder is seen. I believe these struggles also give me my empathic abilities. It makes a both a blessing and a curse.

Coexist

Everyone has an internal struggle going on that they don't let people see in the outside. We all need to learn to live with people who can't see our daily challenges. My hope is that we can push past our differences and find a mutual respect to coexist.
